Within the walls of the Lincoln Park Zoo in downtown Chicago, wild Black-crowned Night-Herons have created a rookery. Over 100 of these stately birds were nesting there when we visited recently. One Yellow-crowned Night-heron took up residence there with them, perhaps in search of a mate.
