We have spotted about 70 species of birds in our backyard over the years – from Bald Eagles flying over to House Wrens nesting in our neighbor’s shed. However we hardly ever get any visiting warblers. So imagine my surprise the other day when I peered out and spotted a flash of bright yellow; thinking it was one of the many Goldfinch that visit the thistle feeder I didn’t pay much attention to it until I realized it as a Yellow Warbler! This cute little guy (see the red stripes on his breast) was feeding from the platform feeder, which was filled with safflower. I grabbed my camera a took a few shots of him atop the pole holding the feeder.
