A male Anna’s Hummingbird (Calypte anna) perched in our Butterfly bush. We have a feeder in this bush just below where he is sitting.
We have several Anna’s that stay with us for the Winter. This has been going on for the past five years or so. For the most part our temperature stays above freezing, but we’ve had them here when it very cold and icy. They are quite hardy!
It can be a challange to keep the feeders liquid when it does get cold. Usually we have several feeders going at once, exchanging the frozen for the liquid
