This is one of my favorite local birds, a Common Yellowthroat. Very common, year round resident of So. California, it prefers water side reeds and other plants. Usually a notorious skulker, during mating season males will act much different. They seek a prominent, exposed position and will sing and trill marking their territory and attempting to lure a female. Often hard to expose well on sunny days because of the white facial stripe and bright yellow neck and chest, this one posed for me in the very early golden hour light of the morning.

Simply a great shot – everything so sharp and clear! You had you’re camera set-up just right for this one. What’s a skulker?
Beautiful photo!
