We were on a birding vacation in Ecuador. We walked through a farmer’s pasture that had lots of red clay and hills. After arriving at the lookout spot, we soon saw this bird. We watched it for quite some time. This farmer realized he could make more money than cattle raising allowing birders on his property. He still has some cattle. He lead our group to this bird’s location. He was doing some calls.

You were able to get him out in the open. Not easy; most of the shots I have taken have been up in a heavily leafed tree.
