Black-banded Owl (AKA San Isidro Owl)

This Black-banded Owl is currently under review by the ABA for designation as a separate species. It has a completely different call than other Black-banded Owls. The guide we were with could mimic perfectly the call; he even told me what tree the owl was likely to land in. That is true local knowledge.
