I was hiking along Lake Springfield at Lincoln Memorial Garden when I heard a rustling in the tall grass near the shoreline. I looked in the direction of the noise and saw a snow goose struggling to get in the water. With the bird swimming away from me, I had to settle for a shot with her head turned. It was windy and cold and the water was choppy. This was the first snow goose that I had ever seen at Lake Springfield and the first one I ever photographed.
