I was in the Quad Cities area to take train pictures. I had driven north alongside the east end of CPKC’s Nahant Yard (Davenport, Iowa) and didn’t see any trains to photograph. I decided that rather than going back the way I came, I would take a parallel road (S. Concord St.) east of the pothole-filled road I had taken north. Concord Street is closer to the Mississippi River. As I made my way south, I saw a tree with two large birds in it and they looked like bald eagles to me. I stopped my car south of the tree and got my camera out. Sure enough, they were bald eagles. One took off after a while, but the other one stay around as I found the lens errors produced by my used Tamron lens. I was so focused on the bald eagle, that I didn’t notice that he had company in the tree. I guessing that the other bird is a starling or blackbird.
