When Deb and I go on trips to exotic places (at least exotic to us) to photograph birds, we enjoy taking pictures of most, if not all, of the birds we see. We would rather take a good picture of a common bird than a poor picture of an exotic bird. By the same token, I would be lying if I did not admit that there will always be certain birds that we would be disappointed if we did not get a good image of. This is one of those birds. Not rare, it is found moderate altitudes in south, central Colombia. One of the lodges we stayed at, La Florida or El Bosque de Las Aves, is noted for this bird. I hoped to get many good images, but alas, in the 4 days we were there this bird only made very sporadic showings. This is the best image I was able to take. While it certainly shows some of the beauty of this species, there are many deficiencies (head and body angle and lighting to name a few). Oh well, will have to return and try again.
