This was a “must see” on our 2-week trip to the area around Quito. We saw 14 individuals on our 2nd day. The country has done a great job holding a very large tract to land in the mountains as a reserve for these great birds. It is estimated that there are only about 100 individuals in the country so I would consider them to be rare.
