Yellow-faced Grassquit

Cuba is such a poor country. We went to a farm where the farmer placed cracked corn on the top of a concrete wall to attract a mixed flock of Cuban and Yellow-faced Grassquits – which was both fun and amazing to see! Our group was advised not to reveal the location of the farm through photo captions or geotags on our photos, because the farmer could be disciplined by the government for wasting food that should have gone to livestock or people. This is a sad situation! I’m certain that there was an under the table payment to the farmer to compensate him for the risk he was taking.
