We were in a canoe paddling around the edges of Pilchecocha Lake in front of the Sacha Lodge. I was trying to identify a flycatcher that was new to me when our guide proclaimed “never mind that – look at the sungrebe!” The Sungrebe was in the reeds a few yards in front of the canoe and our guides were thrilled to see it because they are rare in the Sacha Lodge area. I snapped several photos as it swam away and disappeared into the reeds…
