Bohemian Waxwing

What are they doing in this tree?

Viewed 9 Times

Coming to the end of my Michigan trip with Sabrewing Nature Tours. Actually the trip finished in March, but I am just finishing up my image processing now. This image is of Bohemian Waxwing birds. Normally I try to photograph birds with a clean (not distracting) background, but even though there were dozens of these birds in the trees, it was impossible to get one isolated with a clear background. However, this image certainly does tell a story about what these birds were doing in the tree. There were a number of these trees in the vicinity, but most had already been picked clean of berries, so it was easy to predict which tree these guys would return to. Shot with a Canon R5, 600 f/4.0 with 1.4 extender (840 mm), ISO 1250, f/5.6, 1/3200 SS, handheld.
