This is another image of Downy Woodpeckers. This one was taken in a totally different location in Michigan, near Marquette. Although it is the same species that I posted a few days ago, I like this picture for a few reasons. First, both male and female are present. Second, is the interesting and unusual (for me on the West Coast) Birch Tree perch. Although the weather was mild, by UP standards, there was still about 6″ of snow on the ground and it was about 20 degrees F in the morning.
