These are Golden-crowned Sparrows, a relatively common bird at mid to upper elevations on the West Coast of the USA. One of the attributes of an image I like is a head angle where the bird is “engaging” with the photographer. Most of the time, that means looking slightly toward the camera. Unfortunately we have very little control over this. Birds look where they want. I like the fact that both birds are looking the same way-some symmetry.
