Sagebrush Sparrows are the first of the sage habitat birds to return to Washington, usually arriving in late February. I failed to find one on a trip to the area a few weeks ago – mostly because my normal go to spot for them is now a wasteland after bad fires. I made another trip on April 12 and visited their new “best spot” and found at least 5 of them – still singing even though they have been on breeding territory for almost two months now.
