Bar-tailed Godwits, Red Knots and Ruddy Turnstones all Migrant birds in breeding plumage ready to leave New Zealand to fly to Alaska / Siberia to breed. There were 1400 Knots and Godwits and 180 Turnstones on the spit.

That’s a beautiful picture with the Red Knots in breeding plumage peppered throughout. We usually don’t see them here in breeding plumage.
