I was watching this heron standing on the north bank of Lake Marmo when it decided to cross the lake and land in the water, on the South side, about 20 feet from me. It was interesting that it did not fly with an extended neck like cranes or geese. A rather strange appearance it seems like to me.

A rare head-on look for the Great Blue in flight. I’ve never noticed the pink feathers on the front of the wings. Well done!
