My husband and I spent a week in South Carolina. I had two target birds, Red-cockaded Woodpecker and the Brown-headed Nuthatch. My first sighting of the nuthatch was at the nature center bird feeders. Although, I was thrilled to get a Lifer, as a photographer, I wanted a photo in their natural setting. While waiting for another glimpse of the nuthatch, I got to talking to another photographer and told him I was hoping that the Brown-headed Nuthatch would appear. He told that 2 of the nuthatches were flying back and forth, crossing the street high in the trees, just down the street, before the “curve.” So with nothing to lose, we drove down the street and by luck, one of the birds flew across the street just as we approached the curve. Yay!! Once I got out of the car, it took about 10 minutes to relocate them, the next 30 minutes enjoying them. I was really excited that I actually got both of them in one photo.
