In my opinion, lighting is a key factor in taking photos. This photo was taken early/mid morning, the sun rising, but not topping off. This Red-tailed just missed a snack and he sat there, motionless, staring at the tree trunk where his “Snack” was suppose to be. His “snack, aka: squirrel” was hugging the tree trunk on the other side, motionless. It was pretty tense for awhile, but the squirrel stayed put and the hawk went flew off. Squirrel 1-Hawk 0
