I usually don’t like my “preening” photos, because catching the eye is important to me and I can never seem to catch the eye. However, I saw this Blue Heron standing next to the trail and he didn’t seem to mind people walking my. This was a great opportunity to get some decent shots, especially with the fall colors. As I started his photo shoot, he began to preen. Once I checked my photos, I actually got the shot I wanted. I can see his eye!
