I was lucky enough to see an American Bittern in the open as the sun was setting. This bird had moved out of the reeds and was grabbing frog after frog. I like the soft light on this bird and the slight head turn with good eye contact. Yes, I have pictures with frogs in his mouth but the moment he caught one he darted deep in the reeds and quickly gulped the frog down. Apparently he was willing to catch in public but eat in private.

That’s a great picture! There must be quite a supply of frogs! He should come to our place; he would have a feast at the pond!
