These small birds are common in the atlantic ocean, but are seldom seen from shore. They are about the size of a swallow and are just as difficult to capture in flight (it doesn’t help that you are on a swaying boat)

I enjoyed the pictures you shared from the pelagic trip. How far out did you go?
The trip goes out of Hattaras to the Gulf Stream. How far out it is varies based on the day but it’s usually between 8 and 30 miles offshore. This trip I believe it was somewhere in the middle of that
