On my third trip back to the gardens, I finally got a great look at the Limpkin that has been foraging at this pond for a few weeks now. I watched it grab a large mussel from the mud and then proceed to crack it open with its formidable beak and enjoy the juicy meat for breakfast. A rare find for this area, as they are more common in Florida and the southern coasts, although they have been appearing north more often in recent years
