This Hudsonian Godwit showed up in the lagoon on Northerly Island in Chicago and stayed for three days. The viewing was difficult and the bird mostly fed in the grasses on the banks. I hunkered down near his favorite feeding spot and eventually the bird moved very close to my location. I was literally shooting between willow branches and tall weedy grasses to get this photo. The bird was not in full breeding plumage but it was a HUDSONIAN GODWIT! Plus, I’ve never been this close to this species and be able to observe it for so long. All in all a very good day.
