I was sitting on a bench along the Mississippi River in Louisiana, Missouri when a squadron of pelicans flew over the river straight in front of me. I didn’t have my camera with me at the time and by the time I got it, they had flown away. I did manage to get this artsy shot of one pelican gliding with the Kansas City Southern railroad bridge in the background. The bridge takes nine spans to cross the river. One span is a swing span (not pictured) that opens up to allow larger river traffic to pass.
