I zoomed out on this shot to include more of the birds surroundings in the shot. When the owl looked up to stare down a Blue Jay, it ended being a nice composition.

Beautiful picture of the Barred Owl! How far off was the Jay? Could it have been included in the frame?
The Jay was much higher up in the canopy. I chose to go horizontal to include more of the vegetation to the left of the bird. It was much darker in that area and I thought it created a cool mood for the shot.
Great owl shots always appear as if the owl is posing for the camera!
