I was waiting to get a photo of this Spotted Sandpiper as it fed along the waters edge. This bird was not giving me any great photo opportunities.. So we wait. then it flew away only to return in a minute or two and landed right in front of me on this tree stump.. What a day. I guess I learned on this day, patients and persistence pays off sometimes.

I’m glad you waited because you ended up with a great picture of the Spotted Sandpiper. I feel like there is a lot of space around the bird – could the pic be improved with a bit closer cropping?
It’s always a balance between portrait photos and showing the birds environment. This time I chose environment. Loved the perch it was on and wanted to get all of it into my photo.
Like how this bird is surveying his territory. Nice perch and sharpness.
Thanks Emil… I enjoyed the perch as well.
the colors in this photo are exquisite and the space really lets it breath. Nicely done
