On July 16, 2021, late in the day, a Roseate Spoonbill was reported in Saline, Michigan, just west of Ann Arbor. The next day we decided to take a road trip to see this bird. In Saline, as we drove across the bridge that had a large group of birders lined up, I spotted the Spoonbill. We parked up the hill and walked back and had a very good view on the way down the hill through a small opening in the habitat. When we got down to the bridge, it had moved up the river so the view was not quite so good but we enjoyed watching it. This remains the only sighting in Michigan! It was last seen on July 26th. A Michigan lifer for us.

Wow! What a delight!
I would never have expected a Roseate Spoonbill in Michigan! What a treat to see one (and to get a great picture of it, too!)
