I looked up the difference in male and female Jays and it appears the male is slightly larger. I can’t tell which is larger in you picture. Most sites advised looking at courting behavior to tell the difference.
Thanks Mike! They were flying around together and seemed friendly towards each other, but I don’t remember any other behavioral details. I’ll have to start taking field notes!
