Black Oystercatcher 1 of 4

I spent well over an hour following a pair of oystercatchers around as they foraged through the mussel beds. Out of the 1000 or so pictures I took, I managed to narrow it down to four that I like best. In this photo, the waves in the background as well as the bird’s pose help highlight the extreme and precarious nature of the oystercatcher’s environment.
