Here’s another Bat Falcon shot from Texas. After every short hunt over Cattail Lakes, it would always come back to this one dead snag along the side of the lake. At one point a Merlin flew up to “it’s” perch. Even though the Bat Falcon was much smaller than the Merlin, it tirelessly chased the Merlin around until it finally left.

Wow! You got the Bat Falcon! Did you go down there to see it or were you in the right place at the right time?
The Falcon was a main reason we went and was definitely a big target.
Some local birder said they missed it 10 times before they finally got it, so we got lucky and saw it first try.
Such a rare bird to see. I’ve been reading about this bird and am very happy you got to see it Henry. Definitely worth going to see.
For sure. Thanks, Emil!
