I really like the pic of the White-throated Sparrow in the snow. What did you mean by, “taken through a mound of snow”?
Taken from ground level, there was a small drift of snow between me and bird. The reason the lower half of the bird looks foggy is that the top of that mound of snow is creating a similar effect as to when there are branches right in front of the lens that partially obstruct the image. Just in this case it is used intentionally
