Even though the lighting was tough, I was still happy to get a shot of a White-Winged Crossbill. I had 20 birds in a tight area but all were sky high in the trees eating cones. This was the only bird that dropped down for a brief time. It certainly was fun to observe them feed.

Great composition of the WW Xbill! Great detail and balance between the bird and the cones!
Thanks Mike. At first I thought I had photographed a female but upon closer inspection I believe I have an immature male. There is enough red to tip the balance toward male in my opinion. I love the light mix of yellow and red on this bird.
Great composition!
Simply stunning. The coloring on the bird is so beautiful.
