These are migrant birds that breed in Siberia, Alaska and Greenland. They arrive in NZ in Sept-Oct and stay here until March [autumn] and fly back to the northern hemisphere to breed. They are a rare vagrant

Your Ruddy Turnstone pic is fun to look at. Looks like they are all playing together.We get them here in the states around the same times along the southern east coast.
