American Robins are often considered harbingers of spring but in reality many spend their winters within their breeding range and do not migrate to warmer climates as many other thrushes will do. They spend most of the winter months roosting in the trees eating what fruit and berries they can find and when warm weather returns they can again be seen hopping on the ground, hunting worms and other insects.
