Some shorebirds are hard to tell them apart, but a Purple Sandpiper has a unique color, hence the name. Nothing brings out more birders/photographers than a rare bird.

What a great pic of the Purple Sandpiper! We were there a couple of days before you and got looks at it from afar. it was so windy (it blew over our scope on the tripod) that I didn’t go out on the pier to get closer. Certainly an Award Worthy shot!
