Montezuma Oropendola

In the rain

Viewed 24 Times

Another example of shooting in the rain. Slow shutter speed elongates the rain drops. This is a Montezuma Oropendola; related to our Orioles, they nest communally with the typical hanging nests. Often a large tree will have dozens of nests. Each year a pair of birds may use a different nest. Very unique territorial calling behavior, they literally hang upside down when they utter their strange call.

I like all the experimentation and explanation of the shots in the rain. Really gives you a feel that you are in the rainforest.
