I love to shoot birds in the rain (not me standing in the rain, but the bird). This bird, a Keel-billed Toucan, is certainly an iconic bird of the rain forest. This particular bird was shot in Costa Rica at Laguna del Lagarto Lodge where these birds are common. Rain is also common there as the area averages 150″ of rain per year. This bird was enjoying the rain as he danced across this branch for over 5 minutes. Easy to shoot lots of pictures, but it required high ISOs to get any kind of SS. This was shot at 1/1000 sec, f/8.0, Iso 2500, at 223 mm with a Canon R5 and a RF 100-500 lens.

Love the toucan in the rain. I’ve seen lots of these but never got close enough for a photo like this.
This was quite a cooperative bird. He landed before the rain started and once it started to rain, he danced around on this and one other branch for 10′ giving me time to take many shots.
I like this one!
But I think I like this one better, both really cool!
Love these Toucan pictures!
