Like many backyard bird feeding enthusiasts, I have a love/hate relationship with this predator. They are gorgeous to look at but I’ll admit the first time I saw one snatch a screaming robin off my lawn I was devastated. I have come to accept them as part of nature’s cycle of life and when they come to my yard I enjoy observing and photographing them as I do all the rest. I caught this one showing me its floofy butt, just as it was about to answer nature’s call.

I haven’t see a hawk come in and grab a bird – I’m sure it was pretty disturbing the first time you saw it. Sounds like you’ve come to terms with it.
