Least Bitterns are among the most secretive birds and thus seldom viewed out in the open unobstructed by vegetation. I first photographed one in 2012, but then did not see another for 4 years. While I feel fortunate that I have had some luck finding this species of bird (all at the same location), this image from this particular site, constitutes the only time I have seem the bird completely out in the open rather than partially hidden. This makes it a special image for me.

What a great shot! Thanks for posting it here – a great exemplar of the Least Bittern.
All legs! Great detail!
Extraordinary looking bird, super long legs or just the angle?
Like most members of the Heron family, very long legs.
