Perched Birds Can Be Targets

Most of the time, in order to be considered a GreatBirdPic the bird is caught doing something: eating, fighting, preening, flying, etc.  Those can be tough pictures to get.  Birds that are perched are easier to photograph but lack the action that sometimes elevates an image to Award Winning status. Below are some perched birds that I took this fall.  They may not be Award Winners but I like them because the capture the beauty of the bird.

I found this immature/female Rose-breasted Grosbeak perched behind a bush in front of me.  I found a little window through the bush and captured some great detail in the bird.

This Robin perched out in the sunlight and I was struck by the silvery sheen that surrounded its body.

Perhaps the bird is a bit too small for the frame, but I like how the thistle surround the White-crowned sparrow.

This Nashville Warbler hopped around right in front of me for quite a while until I was finally able to capture it.
