Paul Demkovich joined GreatBirdPics shortly after I met him during our Birds and Wines of Chile and Argentina tour in 2024; I’m glad I told him about our site because he travels a lot and shares his GreatBirdPics with us from each exotic location he visits. Most recently Paul was in Hawaii so here are a few of the birds he observed there.
Paul searched out in a national park for the White-rumped Shama but to no avail – they were hanging out in his hotel’s parking lot, though.
Here’s another bird he found in a public place – an airport. Striking Red-crested Cardinal.
Next is a Pacific Golden-Plover Paul saw daily in Hawaii. By coincidence I was on a bird walk yesterday with my Birding Buddy Mark, who just returned from an exciting tour of Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. He showed us some of the GreatBirdPics he took along the way but he had one he wasn’t able to ID. He brought a picture of it up on the back of his camera and I opened Merlin and took a picture of the bird. Up popped, “Pacific Golden-Plover”!
This next impressive bird was introduced to Hawaii. Nice closeup of a Kalij Pheasant.
True to its family name, this Bristle-thighed Curlew has a long, curved bill.
Thanks for sharing all your shots from Hawaii, Paul. Where are you off to next?
