I always enjoy seeing the birds captured by our New Zealand Naturalist Rebecca Bowater. She always includes species I am unfamiliar with. Take a look:
The Weka, or Maori Hen, is a chicken-sized bird that is curious and friendly. Here a mother teacher her chick how to hunt for food.
Rebecca captured this large flock of South Island Oystercatchers in flight. Looks like a mess!
Here’s a shot that includes Bar-tailed Godwits, Caspian Terns, Pied Oystercatchers, gulls and a shag on and off the beach.
