Members’ Bird Photography Showcase – 7/30/24

Some interesting shots have been recently shared by our members.  Take a look:

Bajadreamer always has an interesting tale or informative technical information to share with each of his pics.  Here’s how he got this shot, “This is a Yellow-breasted Crake, a tiny (sparrow sized) bird of the wetlands in Costa Rica. It is a very secretive bird, darting in and out of the vegetation. Hard to see, let alone photograph. Look at the foot compared to the head and neck of this bird. It uses those huge feet to walk on the top of lily pads and floating vegetation. This was shot at the Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve and Marsh in far northern Costa Rica. I held the camera out side of the boat suspended just above the water to shoot under the vegetation; I would not have been able to get the shot if I was shooting down at the bird.”

Our newest member Paul Demkovitch has posted a lot of his GreatBirdPics recently.  This Scarlet Tanager caught my eye.

Dan Rossi captured this colorful Red-Morph Screech Owl this past winter.  When you can find them, these owls often perch in conspicuous places.

Daltsysnr said that because of the poor light he had to do quite a bit of post-processing to bring out the colors of this interesting Silvereye.
