Here are some interesting, and good, bird photographs from our members. Enjoy!
The nightjar is a most interesting bird. They are nocturnal (active at night) so they rest during the day. If you’re lucky enough to find one (usually on the ground) they remain quite still unless you get too close. One of our newest members BlairBirder said he was able to creep up within 10 feet of this Buff-collard Nightjar in Mexico.
We usually have to hunt to find a Greater White-fronted Goose in the Chicagoland area. Mikeaff was able to spot one in a northern suburb of Chicago. I like all the detail he capture under the wings of this bird.
During our BIF contest Osprey80 shared several excellent shots of hummingbirds. Each one was tack-sharp and had a background that didn’t take away from the bird. I felt like I had to bring your attention to more of his shots, so here’s a picture of a Lucifer Hummingbird he took in Arizona.
JamesD took this shot of a Downy Woodpecker, then looked at it and asked if the bird had a bug or a piece of wood in its mouth. I tried to look but I could’t tell – what’s your guess?
