Yesterday I announced the co-winners of the GreatBirdPic Halloween Bird Photography Contest – you can see them HERE. Today I would like to present the six Honorable Mention photographs. These shots were excellent and worthy of a special mention; not every picture can be an award winner, but these came darn close.
Our first three Honorable Mentions were taken by Osprey60. I want to compliment him for tying the pictures to the theme in his Descriptions. Click on each picture and be sure to read what he wrote – I particularly like the comments regarding this Bronzed Cowbird. I loved some of the connections he made with some of this other submissions, like a “murder” of crows. Very creative!
Osprey60’s sunrise shot of a Red-winged Blackbird is a beautiful shot that incorporated our Halloween them colors.
Read Osprey60’s Description of the Tri-colored Heron hunting to see how it fits into our theme.
Speaking of theme colors, just take a look at Ronald Zigler’s shot of a Yellow-rumped Warbler. Great shot of the bird and the berries behind it reminded us of Candy Corn! Trick or Treat!
Rebecca Bowater, one of our First Place photographers, submitted this shot of a New Zealand Tui Bird, which is called the Parson bird. Spooky bill!
Our final Honorable Mention was submitted by our last contest winner, Emil Baumbach. This red-eyed Spotted Towhee was howling and haunting the woods.
PS – a Shout-out to asteinmann for his “Alice Cooper’s Hawk” submissions. Scary how your mind works!
