Carl, Bajadreamer’s friend, calls his backyard The Nuthouse. Carl has planted many native trees and shrubs in his yard which attract a wide variety of birds. Then Carl places blinds near perches he placed around the yard. Bajadreamer captured this beautiful picture of a Red-bellied Woodpecker from one of those blinds. One thing I find interesting is that the background includes pine needles, which I don’t associate with Red-bellied Woodpeckers (perhaps they frequent them more in the south).
