A First (In the U.S.A.)
This Bird Photograph of the Week is different than the usual ones I’ve selected in that it is NOT a GreatBirdPic. It is more of a Documenting Shot – the picture is backlit and a little fuzzy: probably taken from a great distance. It’s the bird we celebrate – it is a picture of the first Bat Falcon ever seen in the United States. Ever. The bird is so special it made the front page of the Chicago Tribune and probably lots of other publications (Click Here to read an article about it in Smithsonian Magazine). Our HMeade2018 was down birding in Texas and saw this bird (he didn’t discover it but sought it out, along with others). So don’t look at this picture with a critical eye, judging the quality of the shot, but celebrate HMeade2018’s image of one of the most rare birds ever seen in the states.
Stay Safe. Go Birding. Take Pics. Share Here. Repeat.
