It’s time for another Members’ Showcase, featuring GreatBirdPics from our contributing bird photographers. This time we’ll focus on some pics from down under – Australia and New Zealand.
We start off with a bird that has been introduced all around the world, the European Starling. Native to Europe/Asia it has been introduced to every continent (except Antartica). Daltsysnr captured this one about to take off in Victoria, Australia.
Daltsysysnr wouldn’t say that this next one is a GreatBirdPic but I like the overall view of the Wattle Bird flying with every feather extended.
Go east from Australia and you’ll find Rebecca Bowater taking pictures of birds (and flora) in New Zealand. We’ve featured her shots of Bar-tailed Godwits before and as you recall they make a non-stop flight from Alaska to New Zealand and back every year. Note the wide crop on this shot to properly frame both birds.
Another shot from Rebecca of a Black-fronted Tern preening itself. I like how sharp this pic is.
